Trip to the Parx Casino.

This weekend, I got to take a visit to Parx Casino right outside of Philadelphia. I went with a friend and we played poker. First I feel it appropriate to write a Review of Venue. It is a large Venue. Upon driving into the venue felt like approaching an Arena, like I had tickets to a Basketball or Football game. We stayed at the east corner and thats where the Poker Room is and its a very large and very nice room. There was a total of 92 tables, with large numbers on the ceiling hanging over the table. Easy to find your table. Took all guessing work out of it. Among the sea of poker tables all you had to do was find your ships flag waving you home. One of the best poker rooms I’ve seen. The top two in the east. Negatively the room is far away from Casino, and The Venue doesn’t have Hotel Rooms. The occasional drunk or fish spending the weekend at Casino, is not wandering to your poker table. They are too far away to take the walk whether it be the far distance to Hotel or Casino. The Venue is superb besides the negatives. Only one place to eat is at the Noodle Shop downstairs. Would be nice to see a larger selection of food. Options are limited. The meat at the noodle shop is not of the highest quality, however just the soup is pretty good and it fills you up. One more negative is they charge for Alcohol. The charge is $5 for Bloody Mary. They also don’t have Redbull instead offer you an imitation called Playboy for another fee of $5. If your a Scotty Win type who needs to knockdown a few before enjoying yourself or if your looking to pull a marathon session and using Energy drinks for fuel, it will cost you. Regular cold beverage (coke, gingerale) or hot beverage (Tea, Coffee, Hot Choclate) is free of charge.

The players card given out at Casino will earn you a $1 for every hour spent at the table which can only be applied towards food as I was told. Pretty good deal. So while drinking is going to put a hit on wallet every 12 hours they will feed you.

We arrived at Parx approximately at 1:30 am on Sunday and stayed till 3pm Sunday. Upon arriving at the venue the place was packed. Which was pleasant to see. We started off at 1-2 which featured very weak players. Slowly made the move to 1-3 PLO. All regulars. Finally found my self at 2-5 with soft spots definitely present. I was quiet cold over the night and there was 5 hours where I didn’t win one hand. But the two biggest pots I put my self in I managed to win. Overall made roughly 700$. I wouldn’t mind coming back.

Blogging about Cigars Poker and Litterature.

I want to start a blog about Cigars Poker and Literature. Technically the same as this one. Except leave out the real life drama. That should be left for the Journal. Im thinking I could start off by hiring a good Designer to design a professional looking website for me. Roughly 1400$. While in the mean time I went to forums and started getting known. Once all was done I could really develop my own voice writing about things I really enjoy in every day life. I have poker knowledge. I am always at the cigar place and being introduced to new things on the market (Cigars, Lighters, Cutters) I need to write more with school approaching, if I am to take full advantage of it. Once I would get a voice I could open so many options for my self with a degree behind me. I should probably take a class on blogging from that creative writing workshop. It would be interesting. In the meantime Ill just read more blogs to see how they are profiting and their content that keeps people coming back.

Back Pain

On monday morning I suffered severe back pain. It happened shortly after waking up. My back felt severely stiff. This was a problem that got worse over the couple of days leading up to mondays incident. After going to the bathroom I did some stretching on Ilona’s floor. Upon getting up there was a shooting pain through my buttocks which caused me to collapse on the couch by the window. I couldn’t walk for the first half of day. Crawled across the apartment back to bed. The second half every step was accompanied by much pain. It took many heat packs, Lidoderm patches and some Celebrex capsules to get me to where I am practically 48 hours later. That’s 60%. Working in the field of Sports injuries and rehabilitation, I know my self to have a herniation in the spine causing a radiculopathy of the S1 nerve root, possibly L5.
Some ways to help the nerve adjust around this problem would be things like; improving muscle tone to keep your spine in place, decreasing weight so its easier on your lower spine, stretching, sleeping on a good mattress, and having good posture. I hope to follow all the recommended steps. My goal is to feel at 100%. Consistently.

Stop spending money on silly shit.

I spend way too much money on way too stupid shit. I recently realized this, oh fuck who am I kidding I knew it all along its just these recent events ( arguments with mom, questions of what I really want to do with my life) have made me realized that I spend un-necessarily on things. I have enough clothes, So why is it that with every new season I feel like I should have more outfits? Sure clothing go out of style and such but Its not like my clothing is from the 80′s. Hey actually that is going back in style, just ask the hipster.

I also spend recklessly on things I don’t need really. Like just last week I bought a new mouse for 50$ when I surely have enough mice for my computer. But I rationalized that it would make playing poker on the computer more easy and would motivate me. Nice things just make me feel good. But it is such a fleeting soothing of the ego. It is never truly satisfied, our ego that is. So I must stop soothing it with clothing and gadgets :0)

So what are some steps I can take to stop the spending.
- I should allow my self a budget. Might be interesting and challenging.
- I can not buy another piece of clothing for the remainder of the year. (not possible)

What would my budget even be. I think a good budget is not to spend more than 400 a week on all my needs. I will enforce it this week and try to stick by it. But yeah overall I think its time to get frugal and save mad money so by summer time I can have my own awesome place!

WOW! To think another year has gone.

All in all 2010 was a great year for me. Lets summarize the wonderful things that came into my life in this past year and look forward to new and exciting things to come in the future . The reason that I think the past year was so wonderful is mostly because of the wonderful people that have entered into my life. I am truly blessed to make such friends . My one wish would be that they remain in my life for all of it! I would not change my friends or people I have come to love, for no other people/person in the world.
If 2011 could bring them happiness, fortune and health! It would make it another kick ass year!

I am thank-full for having a place to live (Rent Free). Its always nice to be taken care of, have a nice warm shelter. I truly do feel blessed for the warm shelter, sometimes laundry and everything that comes with living at home! But what I wish for in 2011 is to have my own place to live and enjoy, so that I may welcome people into my home, throw parties, events and dinners. So I may reward the numerous people with hospitality who in the past have offered the same. Getting my own place is the thing I am most looking forward to in 2011.

I am thank-full for my vacation to spain. For experiencing a rich culture, for tasting great food, for enjoying an amazing night life, for meeting some fun people and sharing fun experiences. I hope 2011 really brings a lot of traveling experiences, into my life.

Basically I am thank-full for all my life experiences. In the past year I have made the greatest progress of any year to date! No matter how hard this year was at times, I am great full for the growth these experiences have afforded me. That people I love have stayed by me or gave me space to grow, improve, and when seen changes returned! Cause there is one thing to know in the future, there is only one way in life and that’s up! And I need everyone to help me get there! Its all about team work and being there for each other. So let 2011 be the year of all of us coming together and being there for each other, the future then will be bright.

Lately I’ve been on a Bruno Mars trip!! For example this is my favorite song.

How amazing is this song, and how how much it exemplifies my life right now. Would do anything for this person but its all for nothing but a broken heart. Your heart beats for one person, but you never seem to be in the right time for her, in the right place or the right seat on the bus, or the right ringtone or the right anything. Your always wrong. As much as your world may stop for her as much as your heart skeeps a beat when you see her smile or you touch her soft lips, the one thing that is evident your not important, and you know the worst feeling of it all is when you know what it feels like in that persons shoes because you’ve been there. And every time your in those shoes you say to your self I know this person really likes me, so much, but I can not just master any of those feelings up for them, deep inside you fear the date those tables will be switched, when you wont matter to someone who you treasure. Its a vicious circle and it sucks to be on this end. Just fcking care a little. Ill just stand here catching granades.

How to Live

Just finished a Non-Fiction book titled “How to live -or- A life of Montaigne” by Sarah Bakewell. The book speaks of the life of a famous writer/philosopher of the 1500′s. Montaigne was born in Bordeaux France and led a life in politics. Apparently his writing finds a home in many souls that read him. To be quiet honest I had never heard of Montaigne.

One cold december sunday upon walking into Barnes and Nobles I saw this book and it spoke to me. So with like any book I picked it up, tucked it under my arm pit and wondered through the store, taking the escalator up a couple of floor wandering around till i could find a comfortable sweet corner and there decided to read a few of the first pages to see if it would keep me interested and in fact if this strange book would be something I would want to devote weeks and my pleasurable valuable time to discovering the hidden messages, stories hidden within the pages of this book. I must say I was intrigued. What first intrigued me was the fact that this wasn’t some self help book preaching how to be a better person. It made it clear that this was not a person saying HOW ONE SHOULD LIVE. But how one LIVES.

Michel de Montaigne was born on Feb 28, 1533.

He lived his life always looking within himself, He wrote all the self observations (which I have not yet read but am eager to start) in a book titled ESSAYS, which was first published in 1580 in his hometown of Bordeaux. His style of writing is said to be all over the place, he was not one who was scared to go off the path in directions unknown, and follow his mind in circles, in paths unknown. Often the title of the chapters of his work are said to have no relations to the actual ideas that is within the framework of the chapter. I love when people are not held in by boundaries or styles but wonder all over the place. They speak what is on they’re mind at all times and don’t suppress it for the simple reason that it doesn’t fit the particular theme they are involved in at the present time. Because lets face it that thought may never enter your mind again and it would be foolish to never write it down only because it didn’t fit in.

Montaigne advised moderation. He would argue that one should never be up or down. You should always follow the Epicurean and Stoics tricks. Imagine looking upon the life from outer space, so that no matter how big it seems at a point in your life, looking at it from outer space you will see how insignificant it is. How insignificant we all are. So don’t get up or get too down. Don’t get lost in any task of life or any one person. Don’t become a fanatic, just enjoy each day, be lazy, take it all in.

” One should be able to accept everything just as it is, willingly, without giving in to the futile longing to change it”.

In my opinion I think that if all people where able to do this, we would fucking all be happy. Now can I do this well, yes. Am I guilty of sometime losing track of this, of course. If we could just except everyone, not judge, not change people.

“Do not seek to have everything that happens happen as you wish, but wish for everything to happen as it actually does happen, and your life will be serene.”

If we could all just accept life as it is and not to change it. I always want control of everything, Always get hurt when something unpredictable happens,
always questioning why me. Just fuck it. I remember this opening scene in the movie i think was called “Garden State” anyway the main character in that movie sits in a plane as there is severe turbulence. Everyone is freaking out, lights inside the cabin are flashing, but he has this look of carelessness on his face like nothing matters death or life it is all the same. Whatever happens will happen regardless, so why get uncontrollably excited or get down to the levels of depression. Death is perhaps an enjoyable feeling, more enjoyable then living. Why be scared of it, its a relief.
